Mitch Winehouse has revealed that he recently discovered a new Amy Winehouse song while recording his own album.

The late singer's father told the Daily Star that he was in the studio recording a charity album when an engineer played an old recording to him that turned out to be an unheard Amy Winehouse song. Speaking about the discovery at the opening of an art show at Proud Galleries in Camden, Winehouse said: "The guy engineering it pressed the button on some old tapes in the studio and there was Amy singing this great song nobody had heard before."

Winehouse spoke during the launch of a series of events taking place to mark what would have been Amy Winehouse's 30th birthday. Tributes including a parachute jump by the singer's mother and a musical performance by Channel 4 News presenter Jon Snow, have all been lined up in memory of the singer.

A series of events operating under the name #Amys30 will run in the singer's home neighbourhood of Camden, London, throughout September, to celebrate the late star's birthday on September 13. Included in the events will be a pop-up shop selling limited-edition merchandise on Camden High Street plus an Amy walking tour of Camden.

On Friday, September 13, Winehouse's birthday, an event named Friday I'm In Love will take place at The Purple Turtle. Channel 4 News presenter Jon Snow will perform on the night, plus singer David McAlmont with more to follow. Amy's mother Janis, who suffers from multiple sclerosis, will also take part in a parachute jump on September 29 alongside Mayor of Camden Jonathan Simpson and 30 others.

All money raised by #Amys30 will go to the Amy Winehouse Foundation, set up by her family following Amy’s passing in 2011. For more information visit www.amywinehousefoundation.org
