Andrew WK's ambassadorial trip to Bahrain has been cancelled.
Yesterday (November 25) it was reported that the hard partying singer had been named a cultural ambassador to the Middle East by the US Department of State.
However, DCist now writes that his visit has been called off.
The 'Party Hard' singer was set to travel to Bahrain next month to promote partying and positive power in the troubled region after being invited by the US embassy in Manama in partnership with the US Department of State.
A spokesperson for the US Department of State has now said that after reconsideration, the embassy thought WK was "probably not a best choice and didn't meet our standards." They added that he was also never officially named a "cultural ambassador".
Andrew WK responded to the news via his Twitter account, writing:
I'm just blown away. After a year of planning, the US State Dept. just canceled my Middle East trip because I'm too party.
