Former Ramones drummer Marky Ramone has recruited Andrew WK to be the frontman of Marky Ramone's Blitzkrieg, with the pair set to perform the punk band's iconic hits around the world this Summer.

Andrew WK, best known for his song 'Party Hard', will perform around 30 of the Ramones' songs as part of his new band's live show with the first date scheduled for New York in May. Speaking in a statement to confirm his new band's plans, Marky Ramone said: "I first met Andrew through a mutual friend and he told me about his party philosophy, which has also always been my exact take on life. We went into the rehearsal studio and it just clicked. We had so much fun that we wanted to invite everyone to the party. I’ve said before and I will say it again, these songs are too good not to be played live!"

WK adds: "When Marky Ramone asks you to be his singer, you don’t even think about it. It’s an automatic, YES. I was intimidated by the magnitude of the opportunity – freaked out and overwhelmed – but I was also completely determined and focused. It’s something I had to do."

Following a string of US headline shows and festival dates, Marky Ramone's Blitzkrieg will hit the UK for three shows in October. See the dates below.

London, Electric Ballroom (October 23)
Manchester, Academy (24)
Glasgow, TBA (25)
