Andy Williams, singer of hit singles 'Can't Take My Eyes Off You' and 'Music To Watch Girls By', has been diagnosed with cancer.

The singer, who is 83 years old, was diagnosed with cancer of the bladder last month and has begun to undergo a program of chemotherapy.

A source told the National Inquirer about the singer's condition: "Andy got the diagnosis of invasive bladder cancer very recently. That means his cancer has invaded the lining of his bladder, but doctors weren't sure yet whether it had spread to other parts of his body."

It continued: "If the chemo shrinks the tumors, doctors will surgically remove Andy's bladder. Andy is in for the fight of his life."

Williams scored his first hit single in 1953 and has gone on to put out 18 albums which have been certified gold and three which have been certified platinum.

His most hit single in the UK was a newly recorded version of 'Can't Take My Eyes Off You', which he re-recorded as a duet with singer Denise Van Outen. It got to Number 23 in 2002.
