Two cult singers also set to honour the Bard

Antony & the Johnsons's leader Antony Hegarty has worked on a two part musical project based on Shakespeare’s sonnets.

Hegarty has composed the music to accompany a chosen sonnet, to be performed by an eight–piece chamber orchestra from Opera North.

Along with the New York band, composers include former singer Liz Fraser, Natalie Merchant and Gavin Friday.

The show, which will be part of the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Complete Works festival, will take place over two nights at Stratford–upon–Avon next February.

It will then tour in Nottingham, Manchester, Gateshead and Leeds in March, with dates set to be confirmed.
