ARABIAN NIGHTS
Arab Strap release a new single, 'Cherubs', their first for Go! Beat, in September.

The single, which is a four-track and therefore not eligible for the charts, is taken from the band's forthcoming new album, which is on the verge of being completed at Ca Va studios in Glasgow. It features Mogwai's Barry Burns on piano.

A band spokesman said of the album: "I've heard five songs and it's got Aidan Moffat singing pop tunes on it. It's a bit different."

Arab Strap will play this year's Reading (August 29) and Leeds (August 30) festivals.

They also head out on a UK tour, calling at

Portsmouth Wedgewood Rooms (September 13) Oxford Zodiac (14) Leicester Charlotte (15) All Tomorrow's Parties festival at Camber Sands Pontin's (19) Exeter Phoenix (21) Bristol Trinity (22) London Islington Union Chapel (23) Colchester Arts Centre (25) Leeds Joseph's Well (27) Edinburgh Liquid Rooms (28) Glasgow Mitchell Theatre (29)

Tickets are available for tour excluding All Tomorrow's Parties from nme.com's 24-hour ticketline on 0870 121 0125 or click here to go to our online gig guide and ticket service.
