Arcade Fire reveal Anton Corbijn-directed 'Reflektor' video - watch

The black and white video features a man in a mirrorball suit and the band in oversized papier-mâché heads

Arcade Fire have revealed the video for their new single, the David Bowie-featuring 'Reflektor'.

The black and white video, directed by Anton Corbijn, was unveiled at 9pm [BST] at the band's official site, reflektor.arcadefire.com. The video, which you can see above, features the band wearing oversized papier-mâché heads and playing the track in the back of a truck, which is also being driven by Win Butler and Régine Chassagne of the group. In addition, the almost eight-minute long video features a man wearing a suit made entirely out of mirrors and a coffin covered totally in mirror tiles, as well a huge mirror ball. Another announcement from the band is set for 9.30pm Newfoundland time [1am BST). Reports suggest that at this time the band will play a small bar in Montreal.

David Bowie's appearance on the song was confirmed earlier today. A message posted on Bowie's official Facebook page this evening said: "We can confirm that David Bowie has supplied a brief backing vocal on the James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem) produced track...".

The post also solved the mystery of the single sleeve for the release, which appeared to feature an album tracklisting. These 'track names' are apparently lyrics from the new release. "The reverse of the sleeve is designed to look like it has an album tracklisting for the upcoming album due on October 28, but it is in fact just snippets of lyrics from Reflektor," says the message.

Arcade Fire have also released a new interactive video, separate from the Anton Corbijn clip. The film was produced by the band's longtime collaborator Vincent Morisset and according to the text accompanying the video at justareflektor.com, the Just A Reflektor film is "an interactive short film that explores the themes in Arcade Fire's 'Reflektor' through two devices simultaneously: the computer and smartphone/tablet. Filmed in Haiti, where the band's singer Régine Chassagne was raised, the story follows a young woman who travels between her world an our own." The film was shot in Jacmel and features the track 'Reflektor' in full. Users must have the Google Chrome web browser to interact with the film.
