Arcade Fire to headline Primavera Sound 2014

Spanish festival will take place between May 29-31 at Parc del Fòrum in Barcelona

Arcade Fire have been confirmed as the first headline act for Primavera Sound Festival 2014 in Barcelona, Spain.

The band, who recently released new album 'Reflektor', will perform at next year's festival, taking place on May 29-31 at Parc del Fòrum in Barcelona. Pitchfork, who will curate a stage at the festival, report that this will be the band's only 2014 date in Spain.

Arcade Fire will embark on a short UK tour later this month, taking in shows in Glasgow, London and Blackpool under the name The Reflektors. Dates in the UK confirmed are at London's Roundhouse on November 11 and 12,Blackpool's Empress Ballroom on November 27, and two nights at Glasgow's Barrowlands on November 15 and 16.

'Reflektor' by Arcade Fire entered the Official UK Album Chart at Number One this weekend (November 3). The Canadian band's fourth studio album has knocked Katy Perry's 'Prism' (2) off the top spot, outselling the US singer's new record by two copies to one over the course of seven days.

Glasgow Barrowlands (15/16)
Blackpool Empress Ballroom (27)


Headliners at Primavera Sound Festival in 2013 included Phoenix[/a[, Blur and Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds. Other artists who performed at the festival included The Postal Service, [a]Animal Collective, The Knife, My Bloody Valentine, Wu-Tang Clan and James Blake.
