Arcade Fire have issued a dress code for their US arena tour.

The band had previously asked fans to don fancy dress for their string of intimate shows around the release of their new album 'Reflektor' but have also done the same for their bigger tour next year.

"Please wear formal attire or costume" a line on the Ticketmaster website reads.

In addition, the band have also revealed details of a series of VIP packages available for the arena shows, which include extras such as giftbags, lithographs and commemorative VIP laminates.

Earlier this week, Arcade Fire announced details of a huge North American arena tour to take place in 2014.

They will also play several European festival slots as part of the tour, with scheduled shows at Northside Festival in Denmark, and the Southside and Hurricane Festivals in Germany. Previously, the band had confirmed that they would also headline next year's Primavera Sound Festival, which takes place in Barcelona, Spain.

Earlier this month (November 11), Arcade Fire played their first UK show under the guise of The Reflektors, the pseudonym under which they've been performing gigs to promote their new album of the same name.

Addressing the fact that the audience had, at fairly short notice, been told that "formal wear or fancy dress" was mandatory for the performance, Win Butler told the crowd: "To anyone who felt uncomfortable dressing up – I'm not sorry," said Butler. "At least 70 percent of you are getting laid tonight… As long as you showered. That's the secret. Boys."
