Against Me! singer Laura Jane Grace has hit out at Arcade Fire for casting "Spider-Man" as a transgender woman instead of an "actual 'trans' person".

The video stars British actor Andrew Garfield as a transgender woman. It sees him donning a wig and dress, having an altercation in a bar and eventually joining Arcade Fire onstage at Coachella. Watch the video below.

Grace, whose latest Against Me album 'Transgender Dysphoria Blues' documents her own gender dysphoria, and the first on which she was not credited under her birth name of Tom Gabel, addressed Arcade Fire in a tweet, writing: "Dear Arcade Fire, maybe when making a video for a song called "We Exist" you should get an actual "Trans" actor instead of Spider-Man?"

Arcade Fire have not yet responded.
