Organisers of the Barclaycard British Summer Time festival have confirmed that fans who took advantage of a leaked staff ticket offer to buy Arcade Fire and Neil Young & Crazy Horse tickets for just £2.50 will have their tickets honoured.

The offer had been intended solely for staff members of ticket agency AXS. But, once the URL for the staff website went viral, fans snapped up the tickets on Friday (June 27) before the offer was withdrawn at around 3.30pm. A statement said: "A leaked link meant the public could purchase reduced tickets. This has now stopped. Tickets purchased remain valid." The tickets have a face value of £66.

Although the AXS offer has been halted, bargains website Living Social is offering two-for-one tickets for Arcade Fire, as well as for Tom Jones' headline show for the festival at Hyde Park. Other headliners – The Libertines, McBusted and Black Sabbath, as well as Young – aren't part of the website's offer.

A spokesman for the festival refused to comment when asked by NME if the cheap offers were a reflection of poor ticket sales.

The full dates for Barclaycard British Summer Time are:
July 3: Arcade Fire, Jake Bugg, Wild Beasts, Future Islands
July 4: Black Sabbath, Soundgarden, Faith No More, Soulfly
July 5: The Libertines, The Pogues, Spiritualized, Maximo Park
July 6: McBusted, Backstreet Boys, The Vamps, Scouting For Girls
July 12: Neil Young & Crazy Horse, The National, Tom Odell, Half Moon Run
July 13: Tom Jones, Boyzone, 10cc, Little Mix
