Members of Arcade Fire and The Strokes will take part in the third annual charity basketball match at this year's Pop Montreal festival.

The Pop vs Jock III game is organised by Arcade Fire members Win and Will Butler and will see the brothers play on a team of musicians including Justin Vernon of Bon Iver and The Strokes bassist Nikolai Fraiture.

Matt Bonner of the San Antonio Spurs has been recruited to coach the musicians team, who will face local basketball players on September 20 at the McGill University Sports Centre.

Pop Montreal takes place between September 17-21 and will see performances by artists including Twin Shadow, Panda Bear, Against Me! and Schoolboy Q alongside the basketball game.

Pop Vs Jock III comes off the back of an extensive Arcade Fire world tour, which has seen the band cover a new song related to the city they perform in each and every night. Most recently the Canadian group were joined onstage by Mavis Staples at Chicago's United Center to sing The Staple Singers' 'This May Be The Last Time'.

Meanwhile, The Strokes played only their fourth gig of the year as they appeared at Los Angeles' FYF Festival on Sunday (August 24).
