Who will win the Nationwide Mercury Music Prize?

The Klaxons

The Klaxons

Have your say ahead of this year's announcement

The winner of the 2007 Nationwide Mercury Music Prize will be announced in London tomorrow night (September 4) – but who do you think will win this year?

In one of the hardest years to predict so far, everyone from last year’s winners Arctic Monkeys to debuts from the likes of Jamie T have been tipped to snap up the prize.

Amy Winehouse has seen her album 'Back To Black' go from red hot favourite to being a bit of an outsider as tabloid infamy has surrounded her – but could the singer still pull off a big upset?

And what about current favourite Bat For Lashes, relatively unknown before the prize, now tipped by many to take home the cheque.

So who do you think will win? Below is the full list of nominees, so let us know who is your favourite and why by signing up for My NME and posting your comments in the box at the bottom.

We will be going through all your opinions and the best comments will go live in the run up to this year’s award ceremony, so keep checking back to this story and join the debate.

No one has ever once the Prize twice, let alone on the trot, so I wouldn't be surprised if the judges go for Arctic Monkeys, just think massive headlines, will get people talking - and it is actually an excellent album, so that's who I'm backing. That said Klaxons have become something of the dark horses this year. Again it's a really good record and it would sell more copies if it won, so watch out for the underdogs...

The Guardian reckoned it could be Bat For Lashes on Saturday. I've got the last few years right but this year feels a little closer. I'm going to plump for Klaxons though. Mainly because I love it and it's the most original 'indie' album for years.

Amy Winehouse should win, and probably will. Arctic Monkeys don't deserve to win, as good as their album is. I'd say that Jamie T and Winehouse actually suit what the award is meant to be for, so either of those two should win. But iut's unpredictable, the M People have won it for fuck sake!

I think It should be Bat for Lashes beacuse the album is something unique and not you usual run of the mill popular music

I really want it to be Klaxons or Jamie T, just grate summer albums that never left my stereo [I'd love to see The View as well win, but they have no chance]. But I think it's going to be New Young Pony Club or Fionn Regan, no special reason just a really strong gut feeling.

I know it is kind of weird but the whole Amy Winehouse saga means that she has no chance of winning. Favourite Worst Nightmare is a good album but i don't see the judges awarding the Prize to the Arctic Monkeys two years in a row. Jamie T to win!!!

the mercury prize tends to take turns with awarding it to the populist choice and the alternative choice, so I think having bowed to the public choice last year with the Monkey's I can't see them getting it twice, Same goes for Amy Winehouse, although giving it to her guarantees the prize getting a huge level of public exposure for them and the sponsors, but i don't think they would be that cynical!!

My personal chocie would be bat for lashes, as the album creates an amzing atmosphere, and natasha khan has a stunning voice, however I've a funny feeling the klaxons will get the award, and new rave will become mainstream in time for the inevitable bandwagon jumping and backlash.

Whoever does win it will be a worthy winner though, its strong line up so it will be a valid result. Nice to see brittish music is so strong and so varied at the moment

Seeing Maps live recently and downloading the deubt album "We Can Create" makes me feel certain that James Chapman (Maps) has a real great chance of winning the prize. Its the only real deserving album this year and it would be great to see a local act win. Maps all the way.

Bat for Lashes - EASY!

They need to gain some respectabilaty for letting Arctics win over Richard Hawley and Guillemots last year. It's also time a small band won and Bat For Lashes is the standout album of the list. I wouldn't mind Fionn Regan winning either..

I'd like to say Klaxons, but realistically it's between the Monkeys, Bat For Lashes and Jamie T, with prehaps Maps getting a look in. Somehow I don't think the View or Young Knives have a chance, both of their albums were far too mediocre.

I really hope The young Knives win it. It is my favorouite album of the year and it is the only one along with Klaxons that work as a record. They are the best live band in the competition as well. I like Bat For Lashes as well that could do well.

Although i really love Arctic Monkeys , but I think Klaxons will most probably take the Mercury Prize home because they did make a really breaking and great album that stand out in it genre .
