Leona Lewis smashes Arctic Monkeys' record
'X Factor' winner takes debut album title
'X Factor' winner Leona Lewis has set a new British record for the fasting-selling debut album.
The singer’s 'Spirit' clocked up 375,000 sales last week – beating Arctic Monkeys by 12,000 sales - they set the previous best in 2006 with 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not'.
The album is now the fourth-fastest selling record of all time in Britain, behind Oasis’ 'Be Here Now', Coldplay's 'X&Y' and Dido's 'Life For Rent'.
Lewis, meanwhile,,remains top of the UK singles chart with 'Bleeding Love'.
