The Enemy have attacked the Arctic Monkeys for being dull.

Tom Clarke, frontman of the Coventry outfit, laid into the Sheffield band, declaring he had felt let down by them recently.

“That first video was out – 'I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor' – y’know, I looked at that and I thought: 'There's a bunch of working class lads from a proper town playing a tune like they mean it’,” he told BBC 6Music. “It was quality and I went out and bought the first album and I thought it was top – some really good songs on there.”

However Clarke says he is no fan of the follow-up, 2007's 'Favourite Worst Nightmare'.

“I was bitterly disappointed when I got the second – just dull,” he declared. “Certain aspects of their music on the second album, and certain aspects of their personas in the press, are just dull.”

Both bands are nominated for the Shockwaves NME Awards, have your say on who the better band is by voting for them at NME.COM/awardsvote now.
