Arctic Monkeys to start work on new record this summer Arctic Monkeys Tickets

Alex Turner reveals third album plans

Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner has revealed that the band plan to work on new material over the forthcoming summer to add to demos they have previously worked on.

The new songs will form the basis for the band's forthcoming third album, although the band do not have plans to release it this year.

"We did a bit [writing and demo-ing] in January," Turner told BBC 6Music. "We had tunes that we'd already been playing on tour so we recorded them. That’s six [songs].

"We’re going to take it easy and start practising over the summer and doing new stuff. We did a little thing in January and it was almost tempting to go again ‘cos it was dead exciting but we thought, 'No, take it easier, chill out a bit and consider'.”

It's been exactly a year since the band released their acclaimed second LP 'Favourite Worst Nightmare'.

Yawn! Surely people must be sick of them by now. Especially with Turner whoring himself out every which way. Give us a break

Hooray! Another 6 months of NME bumming them! Who cares that their second album wasn't very good, fact remains I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor was an ok disco song that has since seen 7, 640, 764 new worse band being signed because they sound similar- i look at you milburn.

Plasticsink 14, please! Your attempts to avoid the "mainstream" are the critical equivalent of pissing into the wind... love them or loathe them to describe a new Arctics release as boring is frankly ridiculous.... I am looking forward to seeing if they can improve on some of the distinctly average B-sides they were playing on tour at the end of 07......

Arctic Monkeys,,,,,there ok...........NME overhype them way too much and am sure the lads would be 1st to admit they shouldnt be rated above the beatles for anything.........

Forget all the hype just listen to the quality of the music.I hate when people think that a band is awful because NME overhype them. Just listen to it and find that everything arctic monkeys have released is amazing!

ranners, I have no problem with mainstream, and I believe if you read my comment I didn't actually say I found the music boring, I simply yawned at having to be subjected to yet another few months of them being shoved in my face every second of the day. I look forward to the backlash.

Every Song on the last shadow puppets album is the same. Take your dick out of Arctic Monkey's ass and listen to some decent music "richardswain"
