Sheffield band reveal which producer they've signed up for next record

Simian Mobile Disco's James Ford has revealed that he has been signed up to work on Arctic Monkeys' forthcoming third album.

The producer, who also was behind the controls for the band's last album 'Favourite Worst Nightmare', explained that the LP was only in its very early stages of conception, but said that the results may sound more "psychedelic" than previous efforts.

"It's too early to say what sort of direction they'll go in next," he told the Daily Star. "But they've got at least one tune up their sleeves that sounds massive already.

"It's much more psychedelic than the first album (2006's 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not'). I wouldn't rule out a bit of R'n'B either – the boys know their stuff."

This will be the album that unleashes the Arctic Monkeys backlash. The first two albums saw the critics build them up... Now, the knives will be out. They're a talented bunch, and I hope they come through, or they will be buried.

Avoiding a few rascals should see them find the right line.... the stone roses were buried by the critics with 'second coming'...still sounds hot to me...And the Arctics are this generations roses....the only pity being the rose is white...not red..

Psychedelic, huh? Actually I can kind of see it. The music has definitely taken an interesting direction from the first album; I've mostly been listening to EP backcuts while waiting for the new album and I can see that sound especially in songs like "Plastic Tramp" and "What If You Were Right First Time?" If they pull it off, which I don't doubt they will, considering it seems Turner has the Midas touch when it comes to music these days, I think it'll blow their first two albums out of the water (if that is even possible). I really, REALLY can't wait to see what these guys do and I am really excited about it! I'm sure they won't disappoint. (And they need to go back on tour, too. =) )
