Arctic Monkeys premiere new music and Lady GaGa cover in video

Watch band in the studio now

Arctic Monkeys are working hard on album #3 in the Mojave desert (with producer Josh Homme) with a view to releasing something in the second half of 2009. They are one of a multitude of bands releasing material this year that includes Kasabian, Klaxons and The View. Release date: Late 2009.
New footage of Arctic Monkeys rehearsing their third album in a London studio have appeared on YouTube.

The four-minute video - which you can watch on NME.COM by scrolling down now - shows the band joking around in the studio and covering Lady Gaga's 'Poker Face'.

Midway through the video, the band (augmented by a keyboard player) are seen playing a previously unreleased track.

Drummer Matt Helders narrates the video, which also features footage of a protest outside the Royal Bank Of Scotland that he and bassist Nick O'Malley stumbled into on a walk through central London.

The video sees Helders discuss the recording of Arctic Monkeys' new album, which he says is nearing completion.

"We're just in rehearsals at the moment, in preparation for a spot of recording. We're gonna be away in New York finishing off the album, a few more songs to do," said Helders.

"I dunno how many [songs] we've got to record, but we've done a few quite different songs to what we might have done in the sessions in the desert [with Josh Homme]. So it's gonna be interesting."

Helders ended the video by promising to post more video updates from New York.
