Arctic Monkeys played a rare intimate gig in London last night (March 28) - possibly their last in the UK before they begin work on a new record - performing their current album 'Humbug' in order.

The band, who played a Teenage Cancer Trust show at the Royal Albert Hall the night before, staged a special 'Humbug' show which saw them perform their third album in full in front of a fan club and friends audience at the O2 Shepherds Bush Empire, that included the likes of Klaxons, Simian Mobile Disco's and 'Humbug' co-producer James Ford and Alex Turner's Last Shadow Puppets bandmate Miles Kane.

Initially keeping quiet between songs, the band swept through 'Humbug' in order with frontman Alex Turner striding about the stage, even directing parts of 'Potion Approaching' to the back of a bald security guard's head.

However, Turner finally address the crowd ahead of 'Cornerstone', admitting he was struggling with what to call the audience.

"I'm wondering what to address you as collectively, Shepherds Bush? London?" he asked. "The Bush! Les Bush, you having a good time?"

Having performed the album, the band briefly left the stage, returning for an encore made up of various B-sides.

"We've got a few more for you, if that's alright with everybody," Turner said before 'Nettles', which saw the band joking with the crowd by playing the song's final stand-alone riff several extra times at the end of the song.

Ahead of 'Joining The Dots', the band had to briefly run though the 'My Propeller' B-side to recall how it went, before launching into an accomplished version of the track.

"Thanks once again, we'll see you another time," declared Turner has they rounded off the show with their regular Nick Cave cover 'Red Right Hand', with the frontman even dropping to his knees during the guitar solo, seemingly in homage to the song's originator.

Arctic Monkeys played:

'My Propeller'
'Crying Lightning'
'Dangerous Animals'
'Secret Door'
'Potion Approaching'
'The Fire And The Thud'
'Cornerstone'
'Dance Little Liar'
'Pretty Visitors'
'The Jeweller's Hands'
'Nettles'
'Sketchead'
'Catapult'
'Joining The Dots'
'Red Right Hand'

Earlier support came from the band's new Domino labelmate, Londoner Anna Calvi, who capitivated the the crowd with her soaring vocals on her songs including 'Blackout' and 'Love Won't Be Leaving'.
