Arctic Monkeys rumoured for Glastonbury headline slot Arctic Monkeys Tickets
Band could be set to play Friday night on the Pyramid Stage
According to The Sun, the band have been booked for this year's Friday slot, following on from their headline set in 2007. The paper also reports that The Rolling Stones and Mumford and Sons are lined up to top the bill.
The Rolling Stones have long been rumoured to be making their debut appearance on the Pyramid Stage for this year's Glastonbury, with Ronnie Wood promising to twist his bandmates arms into playing. "Wouldn't it be nice?" he said when asked about the possibility of playing Glastonbury this year. "We've got a meeting next month and that's going to be my first question to them. It's something I've always been interested in. I'm going to twist their arms. I've got lots of high hopes this year, now that we're all rehearsed - let's get it cracking this summer!"
Meanwhile, hope of Fleetwood Mac making their debut at the festival also appeared too be quashed when the band announced a string of extra US tour dates over Glastonbury weekend. It was recently confirmed that Daft Punk will not be performing despite ongoing rumours.
This year's Glastonbury festival is to be live streamed for the first time with viewers able to watch different stages as they happen. The BBC will use the latest digital technology to allow viewers to choose from simultaneous live streams from all the major stages.
