Arctic Monkeys have made Official UK Albums Chart history, as 'AM' enters the chart at Number One.

The band's new album, 'AM', released by Domino Records, is the band's fifth consecutive Number One, making them the first indie-released act to achieve such a feat, reports the Official Charts Company.

According to the latest sales data, 'AM' has sold more than 157,000 copies in the UK last week. The tally makes 'AM' the second fastest selling album of 2013 so far behind Daft Punk's 'Random Access Memories', which sold 165,000 on its release back in May.

Meanwhile, London Grammar (pictured right) score this week’s second highest new entry with 'If You Wait' at Number Two; The 1975 are at Number Three with their self-titled debut album, while Goldfrapp are new in at Number Four with 'Tales Of Us'. The Strypes complete this week's Top Five with their debut album, 'Snapshot', entering in at Number Five.

Elsewhere, The Weeknd scores his highest charting UK album to date with 'Kiss Land' entering in at Number 12, The Clash’s latest best of collection, 'The Clash Hits Back', is at Number 13, while Janelle Monae’s 'The Electric Lady' debuts at Number 14.

In the Official UK Singles Chart, Katy Perry's 'Roar' remains top for a second consecutive week. One Republic's 'Counting Stars' is at Number Two, Ellie Goulding's 'Burn' is at Number Three and 'Wake Me Up' by Avicii is at Number Four. Drake's 'Hold On We're Going Home' completes the Top 5.
