Josh Homme joins Arctic Monkeys on stage in Los Angeles – watch

Queens Of The Stone Age frontman joins Alex Turner to perform 'Knee Socks'

Arctic Monkeys were joined on stage by Queens Of The Stage frontman Josh Homme during their gig at The Wiltern in Los Angeles earlier this week. See above to watch footage.

The towering frontman joined Alex Turner and co. for a performance of 'Knee Socks', taken from Arctic Monkeys new album 'AM', on Tuesday (October 1). Homme was not formally introduced by the band, choosing instead to walk onto the stage halfway through the song and provide backing vocals on the final song in the band's set.

Earlier this year Alex Turner provided vocals on Queens Of The Stone Age's '... Like Clockwork' while Homme appears on 'One For The Road' and 'Knee Socks' on 'AM'. The album, Arctic Monkeys' fifth studio effort, became the Sheffield band's first album to enter the US Top 10 since 2007. It sold 42,000 copies in its first week on sale, enough to place it at Number Six on the Billboard 200. Nielsen SoundScan data shows that the sales fell just 2,000 copies short of the band’s best ever sales week in the States, back in 2007 when 'Favourite Worst Nightmare' was released and became their first US Top 10 hit.

Arctic Monkeys’ fourth album 'Suck It And See' peaked at 14 in the US upon its release in 2011, while their debut 'Whatever People Say I Am That’s What I’m Not' reached 24 in 2006. That album did, however, give them their biggest-selling single there when it reached Number Six in 2006. The band's third album 'Humbug' reached 15 in 2009.

Back in Britain, Alex Turner and co recently made Official UK Albums Chart history with 'AM', released by Domino Records, becoming the band's fifth consecutive Number One and the first indie-released act to achieve such a feat.
