Arctic Monkeys to headline Summer Sonic 2014

Band lead the line-up for the Japanese festival

Arctic Monkeys will headline Summer Sonic festival in Japan this August.

The band will play in Tokyo and Osaka as part of the event, which takes place on August 16-17.

There are currently no other bands confirmed for the festival. Summer Sonic 2013 was headlined by Muse and Metallica with performances by The Stone Roses, Smashing Pumpkins, Linkin Park and Fall Out Boy.

Arctic Monkeys will play a host of European festival dates in 2014 with sets at Roskilde, T In The Park and Portugal's Optimus Alive festival already confirmed. The band will also play two huge outdoor shows in London's Finsbury Park on Friday May 23 and Saturday May 24, with support to come from Tame Impala, Miles Kane and Royal Blood.

The band will also tour the US in February, starting in Miami on January 30 and visiting 12 cities in total, ending in Minneapolis on February 14. Deerhunter will provide support for the New York and Boston dates.
