I KNEW YOU WERE WAITING FOR ME, MA'AM

Her performance will be part of the Golden Jubilee concerts...

Aretha Franklin is set to sing for THE QUEEN during a concert celebrating the monarch's Golden Jubilee next year.

In a statement confirming her appearance, the legendary diva said it was a "wonderful invitation, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity". She will sing four or five tracks.

The all-day concert will take place in Buckingham Palace gardens. 14,000 fans will watch inside, while more will be able to watch on giant screens outside the Palace gates. The gig will also be broadcast on television and radio.

Though the full lineup has yet to be announced, the BBC reports that the bill will reflect pop music from throughout the Queen's reign.

"You just don't get that many invitations to sing for the Queen of England. I'm going to go the extra mile to be there," Aretha Franklin said.
