Ariel Pink to score soundtrack for Elijah Wood-produced movie Bad Vibes
The musician also appeared on Fox News to talk about space robots, marijuana use in the NFL and getting maced
Directed and written by Dave Gebroe, the film has been described as a "psychedelic horror film". Said to take place in the 1960s psychedelic rock scene, its main focus is a fictional band called Sunset Majesty who's frontman Max Cassidy is cursed by a werewolf after "an encounter with a strange groupie".
Speaking about the film, Pink has explained why he wanted to be a part of the project: "The script totally blew me away with its horrifying revisionist take on the Sixties. It's like a bizarro-world chronology of free love, dark psychedelic music and permissiveness gone hog-wild. My fans will get to hear a side of Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti that no one's ever heard before, and that couldn't be more inspiring to me creatively."
Meanwhile, Pink appeared on the satirical Fox News programme Red Eye with Greg Gutfield on Friday night (September 5). Part of a round table panel, he discussed a variety of topics including a Japanese space robot. Giving his opinion on the new creation, Pink said: "Some people like robots, some people like teddy bears. Whatever it takes for you to go out into outer space, I advocate it."
He also expressed discomfort with some of the gender distinctions being made by the show's guests, repsonding: "why do we have to say 'woman' and 'man'? I don't like this" when Random House executive Dana Perino stated "women don't care about space or robots."
Pink also joined in a discussion on the show debating whether NFL players should be punished for using marijuana and talked about getting maced.
