Belfast music centre given arts grant

£191,000 awarded to Oh Yeah Music Centre

A Northern Irish music scheme has been awarded £191,000 by The Paul Hamlyn Foundation.

The Oh Yeah Music Centre in Belfast, run by an ex-NME journalist Stuart Bailie, was awarded the grant as part of a new £4.5 million Breakthrough Fund for entrepreneurs involved in the arts.

The Oh Yeah Music Centre, named after the 1996 Ash single 'Oh Yeah', will transform a former whiskey warehouse into a dedicated recording studio, as well as exhibition areas and offices.

The Paul Hamlyn Foundation aims to give grants to "talented and visionary people who can enable artists to make great things happen".
