Ashanti in court case against producer
The singer testifies in contract dispute
Ashanti has appeared in court in New York to testify against a former producer over a contract dispute.
Genard Parker is seeking $2.3 million (£1.2 million) for helping start the singer’s career.
Last year Ashanti was ordered to pay $630,000 (£335,000) to Parker by a jury in New York for breaking contract with the producer.
However her lawyer said that she should not have to pay more than $50,000 (£26,593) to the producer, reports the BBC.
Parker claimed that the singer signed a contract stating she would give a percentage of sales from her first three records to him.
Ashanti, though, claims that that contract was voided after her first record company rejected her.
