At The Drive-In announce their reunion

Singer Cedric Bixler-Zavala confirms El Paso band will tour soon

At The Drive-In announce their reunion
At The Drive-In have confirmed that they have reunited.

The group initially posted a cryptic tweet earlier today (January 9) appearing to all but say that they have reformed.

A message on their official Twitter page Twitter.com/atthedrivein stated:

Attention! To whom it may concern: At The Drive-In will be breaking their 11 year silence. THIS STATION IS …NOW…OPERATIONAL.

But now singer Cedric Bixler-Zavala has officially said on his YouTube page that the band are back together. "Yes ATDI is reuniting for some shows and yes a new The Mars Volta album will drop very soon as well," he added.

The group, which features Bixler-Zavala and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez who currently make up The Mars Volta, split in 2001 at the height of their popularity after the release of their 'Relationship Of Command' album.

The remaining three members went on to form the band Sparta before bassist Paul Hinojos joined The Mars Volta between 2005 and 2009.

Bixler-Zavala hinted in 2009 that the band could reform in the future after he had been in discussion with their former members.

At the time he said: "We've been making amends with a lot of the members and having some really good talks with them. We've been trying to get our financial business in order because a lot of people have been ripping off that band really badly."

At The Drive-In back together? It's a great day for rock n'roll
