Avril Lavigne and Nickelback's frontman Chad Kroeger have announced their engagement.
A spokeswoman for the couple, who have been dating for six months, confirmed the pair plan to marry and got engaged earlier this month, reports BBC Newsbeat. They met in February when they co-wrote a song for Lavigne's fifth studio album.
Lavigne was previously married to Sum 41's Deryck Whibley, but they split after three years of marriage in 2009. She went on to date American TV star Brody Jenner, who is Kim Kardashian's stepbrother, but they broke up at the beginning of 2012.
Kroeger, who is 10 years Lavigne's senior, has never been married before.
Former Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine took to his Twitter page to make a joke about the announcement. He wrote:
Just to clear up the confusion, I am NOT engaged to Chad Kroeger of Nickelback.
