Actor has denied the claims and fellow party guests have labelled Banks a 'liar' and 'out of control'
Azealia Banks has claimed that she and Russell Crowe were “flirting” before an alleged altercation that took place at a hotel party.
The rapper has reportedly filed a battery report against the actor after accusing him of assaulting her and uttering racial slurs. Banks went to the police after Crowe refused to apologise for what allegedly happened. Crowe’s representatives have denied any wrongdoing on the actor’s part.
Banks has now elaborated her side of events, calling Crowe “a racist, misogynist pig” and telling The Sun: “Russell and I get next to each other. He’s talking to me, I’m talking to him, and we start flirting. We’re having a really good time. He’s got his knee on my knee, he’s touching my leg, I’m playing him my music, he tweets my song ‘The Big Big Beat’. He’s like, ‘I love this, you’re beautiful, this is great.'”
Azealia also alleges that Crowe’s girlfriend told her that the actor “thinks you’re so hot” but that she replied: “You know, I’m not here for that.”
Banks claims that Crowe had been drinking “moonshine, whisky [and] vodka” and was also smoking cannabis. She alleges that he “just kind of switched”, uttering racial slurs before choking her and spitting on her while throwing her out of the party.
Comedian Jim Jefferies, who claims to have been at the party, has described Banks as a “liar” and “out of control”, adding that Crowe “did absolutely nothing wrong”. See his tweets beneath.
A source close to Crowe has responded to the claims, saying: “Azealia’s behaviour that night was abrasive, shocking, rude, offensive, abusive and erratic. She used the N-word repeatedly and hurled that insult at others repeatedly. Russell never used that word.”
“Azealia’s shocking and erratic behaviour culminated in her lunging toward Russell and one of his guests and threatening to slice their throats. It was at that time that Russell put her in a bear hug and removed her from the suite, in protection of himself and his guests. Hotel security was called and she was escorted from the premises.”
