Babyshambles tour kicks off
Pete Doherty is “excited” to be back on the road
Playing the town’s Brickyard venue, the band played a frantic set for 250 fans previewing songs from the band’s forthcoming album, and, talking to local Carlisle paper News & Star Pete Doherty declared he was glad to be back on the road.
“We just want to go out and play for our fans in Carlisle,” he told the paper. “This is the first time in year’s I’ve come on tour not being a heroin addict. It is a really positive vibe, a positive and exciting time, we’re just here to play music.”
The band played several new songs as well as recent single 'Fuck Forever', while Doherty was involved in a brief scuffle with a fan towards the end of the show after the singer’s suit was ripped, but the situation was quickly defused.
The band were originally set to play dates across the country earlier this summer, but postponed them until now in order to work on their album.
The tour now moves onto Greenock tonight (21).
