Pete Doherty has pleaded guilty to possession of heroin and cocaine.

At a hearing at Ealing Magistrates’ Court this morning, the Babyshambles singer admitted the charges. He has been given unconditional bail, and has to return to court on February 8.

The charges stem from an incident in November last year, when he was stopped by police while driving. In court, prosecutors said that Doherty was found to have three wraps of heroin, with a weight of 0.875gm, and a packet of cocaine weighing 0.234 grams.

His solicitor was forced to apologise after Doherty was more than an hour late for his scheduled appearance.

From court, Doherty was expected to travel from London to Stoke On Trent for a show this evening as part of a short UK tour.

The band are playing as a three-piece on these dates following the departure of guitarist Pat Walden. For the full story of the guitarist's walk-out from the band, see this week's NME, out now nationwide.
