Pete Doherty to remain behind bars
Guilty plea on drugs charge in court today
Pete Doherty will remain behind bars after pleading guilty to possessing drugs.
The Babyshambles singer has been remanded in custody after admitting possession of heroin in court today (January 27).
Appearing at Thames Magistrates Court, district Judge Stephen Dawson told Pete: "I'm sorry if my order will affect your fans and people who go to your concerts".
As reported on NME.COM, Doherty was arrested twice in London yesterday, and will be sentenced on February 8.
Babyshambles were supposed to be on tour this week. However, a date in Leeds saw a no-show from Doherty, and last night’s gig in Newcastle was also pulled following Dohety’s arrest.
Three more gigs, at Glasgow Barrowlands (January 27), Bristol Academy (28) and London Shepherds Bush Empire (29) are now off too.
A spokesperson for the band said: "Due to the arrest and subsequent remand in police custody of Pete Doherty until February 8th, when he is due to appear at Ealing Magistrates Court, the remaining shows on the tour in Newcastle (January 26), Glasgow (27) , Bristol (28) and London (29) have had to be postponed."
"Full refunds are available from point of purchase, alternatively an announcement will be made on February 8 as to when the shows will be rescheduled and original tickets will remain valid."
