Pete Doherty, Kaiser Chiefs and Goldie Lookin Chain have been signed up for a mini World Cup competition.

The Celebrity Soccer Six tournament will involve up to 160 stars and 12 teams, with each side being named after international teams.

It will be held at Birmingham's St Andrew's stadium on May 14 and at Upton Park in east London the following week.

Despite most stars competing on the pitch, Doherty has signed up to manage the Ireland team off the pitch alongside 'Catchphrase' presenter Roy Walker.

The event, which is being held as part of the build up to the real World Cup on June 9, will be shown on Sky One.
