Pete Doherty talks Libs, Carl and drugs
Babyshambles star does TV interview
In an echo of his Newsnight interview in 2004, Doherty expressed his sadness over the break-up of his and fellow Libertine Carl Barat’s friendship.
He said: “I got booted out, it was just exile – I suppose because of the drugs, but really because I didn't want to tour. None of them talk to me. Carl...we were best friends, we loved what we did, we took it right to the end."
Doherty also told Ross of his efforts in kicking his drug habit, stating that he is trying harder than ever before to go clean.
He said: “Being skint, drunk, paranoid, no, I don't wish that for myself. For the first time in my life I'm upping the stakes in my battle against it.”
The star is also keen to get clean to aid his music, admitting that his song-writing has suffered because of his addiction.
Doherty is interviewed on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, broadcast at 10.45pm on BBC1 (July 7).
