Parlophone play down Pete Doherty deal

But they’re ‘looking forward’ to working with his band

Parlophone have played down reports that they have signed Pete Doherty.

Newspapers this morning (August 29) suggested the former Libertine had signed with the label for around £1 million.

However the home of the likes of Lily Allen and Coldplay have distanced themselves from those stories, though have admitted they had been in “talks” with Doherty.

A spokesperson for the label issued NME.COM with the following brief statement: “We are looking forward to making a great record with Babyshambles.”

Meanwhile, as previously reported, Doherty is due in court for sentencing on September 4 for several drugs charges. He has been warned by magistrates he faces "the possibility of custody".
