Pete Doherty makes rare solo appearance

Singer loads mammoth two hour set with Libertines classics

Pete Doherty made a rare solo appearance in London in the early hours of this morning (January 18).

The singer performed a mammoth two hour acoustic set laced with Libertines classics, Babyshambles tracks and the odd new song at the Rhythm Factory.

Doherty, who arrived on stage to chants of 'QPR, QPR, QPR' - referring to the singer's favourite football team - just after midnight, was backed by his friend The General on a number of tracks along with Shambles guitarist Mick Whitnall.

As well as the likes of 'Killamangiro' and 'Albion', the singer, who constantly had a cigarette hanging out of his mouth, sparked mass singalongs when he performed the likes of 'What A Waster', 'Can't Stand Me Now' and 'Time For Heroes'.

Early on in the show Doherty also paid tribute to Oasis by briefly performing 'Don't Look Back In Anger'.

Elsewhere, the singer played a track off the band's recent 'Blinding EP' before he shared the vocals with Whitnall for new track 'Un-stookietitled'.

Doherty was on fine form throughout the show as he leaned over into the crowd to borrow a lighter at one point before he later invited a fan to sing with him onstage.

The initimate gig was the first of three nights which will see two further performances from Babyshambles tonight (January 18) and tomorrow (January 19).
