Politician doesn't like Portsmouth but Babyshambles are OK
Boris Johnson has welcomed news that Pete Doherty has been recording in his constituency of Henley-on-Thames.
As previously reported, Babyshambles did sessions for their second album at the Doghouse Studios in the town, and Johnson, who is the local Member Of Parliament as well as the Conservatives’ Shadow Minister For Higher Education, has welcomed Doherty and co’s visit.
“It’s great news that Pete Doherty is recording his next effort in Henley,” he told NME.COM. “It confirms once and again that the town is one of the most cool, jiving, happening places in the south of England.”
However, while Johnson is down with Babyshambles, today (April 4) he managed to offend the city of Portsmouth.
Writing a car review in GQ, the MP said: “Here we are in one of the most depressed towns in southern England, a place that is arguably too full of drugs, obesity, underachievement and Labour MPs.”
There have since been calls for Johnson to apologise to the city.
