Babyshambles' Drew McConnell speaks about the singer's drug problems
Babyshambles bassist Drew McConnell has explained how delighted he and his bandmates are that their singer Pete Doherty has gone into rehab.
The bassist was speaking to radio station BBC 6 Music on the night of the Mercury Music Awards (September 4), where he had played bass for award nominee Fionn Regan.
“Things are resplendent in the Babyshambles camp,” McConnell said. “I was overjoyed at the news [that Doherty had entered rehab].
"I think what Pete needs is a bit of a rest someplace where he’s on the lemonade. Not wearing pyjamas with arrows on them and not receiving packages surreptitiously sneaked under the door.”
