Babyshambles debut new songs at Paris gig Babyshambles Tickets

Plus Pete Doherty buys a new pet…

Babyshambles brought the first leg of their 2008 European tour to a close last night (January 14) at ParisL’Olympia venue, showcasing three new songs.

Before the gig frontman Pete Doherty had enjoyed an afternoon of shopping in the French capital, buying a kitten from a pet shop which he doted over before heading to the venue.

“It’s been an absolute belter,” Doherty told NME.COM before the gig, referring to the tour, “and that’s only the fourth time I’ve used that word since I left rehab.”

Babyshambles suffered technical problems as they began their set in front of a sell-out crowd, with the band members having problems with their monitors.

‘Carry On Up The Morning’ and ‘Delivery’ had to be re-started as the problems were fixed.

The band went on to perform favourites such as ‘Baddie’s Boogie’, ‘You Talk’ and ‘UnBilotitled’, as well as playing three new songs.

Babyshambles played ‘Pretty Sue’, a song debuted a few weeks previously at London’s Rhythm Factory venue, plus the White Stripes-esque ‘Boy David’ and ‘Babyshambles Instrumental’.

During ‘UnStookietitled’ fans bombarded Doherty with cigarettes, a reference to the lyric “smoking cigarettes down to the bone”.

Babyshambles performed ‘What Katy Did’, a song by Doherty’s previous band The Libertines, before ending their set with rapturously-received versions of ‘Pipedown’ and ‘Fuck Forever’.

“It was a strange gig,” bassist Drew McConnell told NME.COM after the show. “There were some serious monitor problems – we could only hear ourselves. But it was sorted out and we got in the swing of it and it was great.”

Babyshambles played:

‘Carry On Up The Morning’
‘Delivery’
‘Beg, Steal Or Borrow’
‘Pretty Sue’
‘Baddie’s Boogie’
‘UnStookietitled’
‘Side Of The Road’
‘UnBilotitled’
‘Boy David’
‘Babyshambles Instrumental’
‘Killamangiro’
‘There She Goes’
‘You Talk’
‘Albion’
‘Back From The Dead’
‘I Wish’
‘What Katy Did’
‘Pipedown’
‘Fuck Forever’

The band return to the UK today before heading to Germany next week for the next leg of their European tour.

Up the Shambles...great set, great venue...glad to see a turn for the better.

Quick correction to the article...What Katie Did is a Babyshambles song officially (High Society have rights to it - as it was released on the 'Babyshambles' single vinyl before it was on the Libertines); not only that, but it was written by Peter for his acoustic album. I know it's petty and controversial, but Peter and Shambles fans will have your neck for referring to it as a Libertines track.
