Pete Doherty called on to rescue troubled football club
KFC Uerdingen ask singer for help
According to Reuters German football club KFC Uerdingen have sought the help of the Babyshambles singer in a bid to escape their escalating financial problems.
The club, who play in one of Germany’s lower regional leagues, hope that an alliance with Doherty will boost sales.
The singer was once a childhood fan of the club, his affiliation developing when he stayed on a British army base near the city of Krefeldas.
The singer’s manager, Adrian Hunter, confirmed that the club have approached Doherty about calling at the stadium during the band’s European tour next week, indicating that the star would help out if he had the time.
