Babyshambles cancelled a headline festival appearance in France today today (April 2), because Pete Doherty was "tired".

The band were due to play at the Allez Les Jeunes Festival in Rouen, but decided to pull out.

Writing on his Twitter page, drummer Adam Ficek apologised to fans.

"Awoke. Feeling shattered. Get in Cab. Get a message. Today's Babyshambles festival is off. Peter tired. I go Back to bed. Gutted! Sorry," he wrote.

A further Tweet from the drummer emphasised his disappointment at not playing the festival.

It read: "Feeling disappointed, should be in France playing to loads of Babyshambles fans."

The band's bassist, Drew McConnell, is already at the festival, performing with his other band Mongrel.

Babyshambles are scheduled to play the Garorock 2009 festival in Marmande tomorrow.
