Pete Doherty claimed to have unveiled at new look Babyshambles at a gig last night (April 20) - causing some fans to leave in protest, it has been claimed.

The singer, who was billed to play a solo show at London's Charlotte Street Blues bar, arrived at the venue with Babyshambles guitarist Mik Whitnall and a new, unnamed drummer.

It is claimed by some members of the audience who have spoken to NME.COM that Doherty announced from the stage that this was the band's "line-up".

Fans on the band's forum French Dog Writtles said neither original bassist Drew McConnell or drummer Adam Ficek were present at the gig. Some allegedly then started chanting McConnell and Ficek's names, before walking out of the venue in protest as Doherty played the show.

Although nothing has been officially confirmed about the supposed line-up changes, and none of the members of the band would comment so far, Ficek appeared to reference the singer's claims on Twitter today.

"Cheers for the support all, am as confused as all???" he wrote. @Was looking forward to gigs/newrecordz. Headache! Need to smell a rose."

Earlier this month, Doherty's management denied the band had split up, despite him being quoted otherwise.

Doherty is set to play this year's Reading And Leeds Festival with The Libertines, who announced they were reforming in March.
