BOYS WILL STILL BE (BACKSTREET) BOYS

A UK spokesperson for BACKSTREET BOYS has played down rumours which surfaced at the weekend that the multi-million selling act are to split after their current tour.

The usual succession of insiders and close friends have speculated to the press that the Backstreet Boys are to call it a day while still successful.

However, the band's UK spokesperson told NME.COM this morning (May 14): "We have no official statement from America, but we suspect the rumours are not hugely accurate. We're certainly not sat here panicking or thinking 'Oh my God' until we have official word."

Their spokesman added that he'd be surprised if the band quit, "from the point of view that only in past couple of years have they hit it big in America, their home turf".
The earlier part of the Backstreet Boys' career saw them break in Europe, during which time they scored the dubious accolade of supporting PJ & Duncan.

Last year's release of the band's 'Black & Blue' album saw the Backstreet Boys, now eight years into their careers, unable to reclaim the record for the highest first-week album sales from *N Sync.
