Barbra Streisand reveals that she cloned her favourite dog… twice

But says they have "different personalities"

Barbra Streisand has revealed that two of her dogs are clones of her favourite dog Samantha, who passed away last year.

Streisand recently spoke to Variety when she confirmed the news, explaining that the pups, Miss Violet and Miss Scarlett, were cloned from the 14-year-old Coton du Tulear.

Before Samantha passed, Streisand had cells taken from her mouth and stomach so that she could be replicated.

“They have different personalities,” Streisand said. “I’m waiting for them to get older so I can see if they have her [Samantha’s] brown eyes and seriousness.”

The singer/actress explained that she named the dogs Miss Violet and Miss Scarlett because she dresses them in red and lavender so that she can easily tell them apart.

Streisand has also adopted another dog, Miss Fanny, who is a distant cousin of Samantha’s.

In 2016, it was revealed that Bob Dylan once wrote a letter to Streisand in which he described her as his “favourite star”.

The revelation came after Dylan’s personal, secret archive containing over 6,000 letters, notebooks, instruments and more items were announced to go on permanent display in the city of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Dylan is said to have told Streisand: “Your self-determination, wit and temperament and sense of justice have always appealed to me”.
