BASEMENT JAPES

BASEMENT JAXX have caused a stir with their latest video, which shows a woman impersonating QUEEN ELIZABETH II groping a lap dancer.

The promo to upcoming single ’U Don’t Know Me’ features a look-a-like for the monarch fighting, drinking and running from the police during a night out in Soho, London.

MTV have refused to screen the video during the day and will only broadcast it after the 7pm watershed.

A spokeswoman for the channel said that they “had to adhere to Ofcom regulations”.

According to BBC News, she added that although strict regulations mean that MTV cannot show the clip during the day, “"it's a great video, it's a great track and we plan on giving it heavy rotation in our evening schedules".

Basement Jaxx will release ’U Don’t Know Me’ on June 13.

The dance duo will also head out on a UK tour in June before headlining the O2 Wireless Festival in London’s Hyde Park on June 25 and the Creamfields festival in Liverpool on August 27.

Basement Jaxx’s UK tour will call at:
Glasgow Academy (June 17)
Manchester Apollo (18)
Leeds University (19)
Portsmouth Guildhall (21)
Birmingham Academy (22)
London Hyde Park Wireless Festival (25)
Dublin Marley Park (August 20)
Cornwall Eden Project (26)
Liverpool Creamfields UK (27)
