Basement Jaxx record exclusive song for Tate
Lethal Bizzle and KT Tunstall contribute tracks too
Basement Jaxx have contributed a new song to the forthcoming ’Tate Tracks’ project.
The song, which is as-yet unnamed, will be available within London's Tate Modern gallery at listening posts next to visual art chosen by the musicians.
The song will be available to hear in August.
Also set to contribute songs are KT Tunstall, whose tune will go live in July, and Lethal Bizzle whose track has been announced as ’My Hide Away’.
The song will accompany Cristina Iglesias’s ’Pavilion Suspended In A Room’ on June 1.
Speaking about his involvement, the MC said: “The concept of the track is me getting away from the world – my hideaway. When I first saw this piece, it was a really soothing atmosphere and it felt safe and enclosed and inspired me to make music.
"Walking inside it felt like I was in a music studio, like I could make an album in there, and just be the Bizzle. I felt invincible, I’m not usually moved by art, but this piece was different."
Previous contributors to the project have included The Long Blondes, Graham Coxon, The Chemical Brothers and Roll Deep.
All tracks will be available to listen to at Tate.org.uk/modern.
