Bastille have confirmed details of their debut album 'Bad Blood'.
The band, who have previously released the singles 'Flaws' and 'Bad Blood', will release the album on March 4, 2013 shortly before embarking on a headline tour including two nights at London venue Shepherds Bush Empire.
Speaking to NME about the production of the album, Dan Smtih of the band says: "We basically made the album in a studio the size of a cupboard, so it was one extreme to the other. Producing the record, I wanted to off-set epic sounding instrumentation with lyrics that combine intimate stories or conversation. The contrast was something that appealed to me."
Adding: "I wanted each to be its own story with its own atmosphere which brings in different sounds and elements of production, incorporating aspects of the different genres and styles that I love: hip-hop, indie, pop and folk. Film soundtracks can be broad and varied but tied together by the film itself – and I hope the album will be something like that, but held together by my voice and my songwriting, each song a scene or part of a bigger picture. Some of the album is about stepping back and looking at what kind of person you've become. It’s that dawning realisation that everything has piled up on top of you and it’s up to you, as an adult, to sort yourself out."
Bastille's next single, the first from the album, will be 'Pompeii' (released on February 25). "It’s a moment of reflection and introspection, but they’re trapped in time so it's a moment that'll go on for an eternity," says Smith.
The 'Bad Blood' album tracklisting is as follows:
1. Pompeii
2. Things We Lost In The Fire
3. Bad Blood
4. Overjoyed
5. These Streets
6. Weight of Living, PT.II
7. Icarus
8. Oblivion
