Bastille drummer Chris Wood will follow his band's Brit Awards success by turning his hand to football commentary, getting behind the microphone for Plymouth Argyle's next match this weekend.

Argyle fan Wood, better known as 'Woody' by fans of the band, will make his debut on BBC Radio Devon on Saturday (February 22) when Plymouth Argyle play Dagenham and Redbridge in the League 2 clash at the west London side's Victoria Road stadium. The drummer will commentate alongside regular commentator Gordon Sparks, who is looking forward to having a different type of personality in the box with him.

"I have been fortunate enough to have managers and players (including internationals) alongside me, but it will be a first to have someone from the world of entertainment – especially given the popularity of Bastille," says Banks. "Being an Argyle fan is a bonus. I'm sure Woody will fit in well."

Meanwhile, Wood says he "jumped" at the chance to commentate on his favourite team. He says: "Having grown up going to Argyle with my family since I was a young boy, I jumped at the chance to get involved with the team and the broadcasting legend that is Sir Gordon Sparks. This will be a dream come true."

Wood will have a few days to prepare for his football commentary debut having performed with Bastille alongside Rudimental at The Brit Awards last night (February 19) and won the British Breakthrough prize on a night dominated by Arctic Monkeys.
