Bat For Lashes and Toy reveal joint single 'The Bride'
Bat For Lashes has teamed up with East London band Toy for a new joint single titled 'The Bride'.

The single, a reworking of the Iranian song 'Aroos Khanom' by Amir Rassaie, will be released on producer Dan Carey's Speedy Wunderground label.

Carey, who has previously worked with Franz Ferdinand and Hot Chip, was working on new material with Toy when they became attracted to the song, which appears on the compilation album 'Funk, Psychedelia And Pop From The Iranian Pre-Revolution Generation'. Natasha Khan was recruited to provide vocals and also reworked the lyrics after having them translated from Iranian to English.

In keeping with the Speedy Wunderground manifesto, 'The Bride' was recorded at Dan Carey's south London studio in under 24 hours - in fact, it was the label's swiftest recording yet, taking just five hours to complete. Artists who have previously released singles via Carey's label include Archie Bronson Outfit and Steve Mason.

'The Bride' will be released on limited edition 7" on July 1 with just 250 copies being pressed. The release will come backed by a dub version of the track, 'Here Comes Dub Bride', on the B-side.
